Scot did not choose addiction. He struggled for over ten years and had been clean for almost five months before his addiction ultimately claimed him on February 22, 2016.

We miss him everyday.

Since Scot passed, we started a local support group for parents, friends, and families going through the same loss. We held a Scotty B Overdose Awareness Day on August 31st, to educate the community on substance use disorders. We will continue to share Scot's story and to fight for any and all suffering from this devastating disease, because we know that if Scot won his battle, he would be beside us doing the same thing.

Scot did not choose addiction: addiction chose him. We, as a family, will continue to fight the stigma and spread hope to all that are out there still struggling. My prayer is that society we will look at addiction as the disease that it is, and to start treating it as such. My prayers go out to all of you.
